Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any admission requirements?

Admissions is open to applicants that have a high school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) diploma.  If you have already taken college courses at a different school, you will also need to submit your official transcripts.

For those that do not have a high school diploma or HSE, you can enroll at RCC in the 24 Hour Credit/GED program, The Early Admit Program or the RCC High School Program

I’m worried I can’t afford college. How do I get financial aid?

Our Financial Aid office is always available to help you fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), apply for student loans, and find scholarships. Additionally, they can help you find work study opportunities and other aid that may help pay for college.

Is there a chance for me to be involved outside of the classroom?

Yes! RCC has over 40 clubs and organizations, including student government, robotics club, international club, student veterans association, and more. You can also get involved with student publications, athletics, and volunteer service programs while you are at RCC.

What types of programs do you offer?

RCC has a wide range of programs that can help you reach your goals. Our degree and certificate programs are available in the humanities, social sciences, technology, business, health services, mathematics, and much more. Our degree programs are designed to prepare you to immediately enter the workforce or transfer the credits to complete a bachelor’s degree. One-year certificate programs are also available for students looking to learn an immediate skill set.

What is the difference between an Associate in Science (AS) degree and an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree?

AS degree programs are designed to be transferable to a four-year university. Students working towards an AS degree will devote at least one-half of their course work to liberal arts and sciences classes. AAS degree plans involve less liberal arts and sciences courses and are designed to prepare students for immediate entry into a career.

How long will it take me to complete my degree?

Associate degrees are designed to take 2 years to complete. However, we know that many students need to move at a different pace than their peers. To accommodate all of our students, we have several accelerated 8-week courses, summer and winter sessions, credit for prior learning and online courses that can help you complete your degree at the pace that works best for you.
